Coventry Hospital Radio (CHR) is the radio station broadcasting internally to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The station was established in 1972, and is run by volunteers who volunteer for University Hospitals Voluntary Services; which are a registered charity. Charity No. 506938
The radio station is managed by an elected committee and broadcasts to the patients bedside free of charge on channel 1, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through the hospedia bedside units. It's easy to start listening, just pick up the phone dial *1 and ask the operator to activate your bedside unit for the radio, select channel 1 and away you go.
Take a look at our programme schedule and you'll find a choice of show that suits your taste in music. You can also view the presenters details and put a face to the person you are listening to.
At University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust we are always on the lookout for volunteers to help in the running of the radio station, from visiting the wards to presenting a show on hospital radio. Once you become a volunteer full training will be given to get you on the road to helping the patients have a pleasant stay while in the hospital.
Anybody interested in volunteering to help in the running of the radio station should contact the radio station direct on 02476968298 or email: Kristine.Horne@uhcw.nhs.uk for more details and an application form.
